Hey all!

Just another update. You can now see the last 10 songs added to the game by going to the stats page.

We will hopefully be adding a bunch of files soon, so this will be of much use. Check back often to see what has been added.

Permission transition progress     17 Comments
Posted By bLasT on Jul 03, 2010 at 01:51 PM CDT
Following the permission policy implementation, we have added a thread listing the current permissions. In this thread you can find the artists/songs for which we have permission to use in the game so you know what you can step to submit to us.
The judgment process will be loosened a bit to allow more charts into the game. Keep in mind we're still looking for quality charts only.

For the transition phase we have decided to remove one song for which we don't have permission every two days. We may speed up this process later.

I have also changed the FAQ page and the credits page to better reflect the current occupations of the staff.

I know a lot of you have been waiting for multiplayer, and we are so close to having it done. Blast has been working really hard on fixing the bugs and making it work right.

We are opening phase 2 of the testing, and are looking for more people to join in. If you want to test out multiplayer, just comment on this post saying so and we will add you.

We thank everyone in advance for their help, and we hope to see you in multiplayer chat!

Sprite basically virtually hogtied me and whipped me until I agreed to upload a batch of charts.

Of course I complied, and now he's helping add them as we speak.

Expect a load of outstanding charts in the very, very near future.

Sprite edit:
I just finished uploading 5 files -

Variations 2 (4key)
Boss1 (6key)
Papyrus (4key)
French Merchen (4key)
Universal Mind (4key)

I know that it's been a long time since any updates have been made to the site, and while I at the moment I highly doubt I can promise anything more than new files (and even this does not depend on me alone), I will make up for it once summer arrives.

I committed myself to many responsibilities in real life, and at the moment the year is at its most intense point, the climax of it all. I cannot find enough time to get anything related to KBO accomplished.

It does make me very anxious to see a bunch of things on my to-do list that simply must wait. I apologize, but I'll make up for it eventually.

However, this is just myself. I'm not sure about what the other staff members are doing.

...nice to meet you!

Been away from KBO for quite some time. I feel bad but then I realized that you're all fail anyway :P. Jokin' jokin' gaw chill! Anyway been doing some project IRL and my huge work season is JUST starting to get busy and I got promoted to Supervisor over a new branch of our business due to a doubling in expansion in another area of the state so I definitely will be a ghost of sorts, a memory persay for the next 4-6 months. I will keep supporting KBO and when/if we need to make upgrades for certain features etc, I will still be around to take care of that as well ^^

Hey P.S. I really want you guys to really gratz the guys that made this site happen. Due to my absence I don't know if they are active still but everyone in the KBO team deserves big gratz. I say this after thinking about how fast we made KBO out of nothing and how awesome it has become and continues to become. So show your support by giving credit to the big dogs of KBO. Especially Blast. God without that guy woo we wouldn't be here . So yeah, I hope to come back sooner than later and hopefully I can come back to new features and a much larger song list. BLAST! SG! GET THE F**K BACK TO WORK DAMMIT HOW MANY F**KIN' TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY, NO CABBAGE AND RICE UNTIL YOU FINISH YOUR DAMN LISTS YOU LAZY MOTHER *$%()*&#!!!!!!!!!!

TL;DR - I work, gonna be gone for a long time. See you in a long time.

Happy Birthday Malice!     9 Comments
Posted By stargroup on Apr 05, 2010 at 10:23 PM CDT
I was hoping to release this earlier today but Malice was never online to see it, so it's somewhat late but it's still technically his birthday.

In his honor we have released 4 more of his charts:

Mahou no Tamago [6k]
Totsukaku Zenkaiten [6k]
Spiral [6k] (collab with Kinx)
Ten Niwa [4k]

Enjoy, and best wishes to Malice!

Many New Updates!     7 Comments

Quite an epic day.

We have now implemented a points system which you guys can eventually use to buy stuff with. Details are explained in the link.

In addition, you can score your first points by sending in a completed survey from the news post below. Rewards will range depending on how fully you fill it out.

Next, we have a change in the chart keys. This means virtually nothing to most of you but it's worth mentioning.

Again, this won't affect most of you but I'd like to congratulate the plethora of new notecharters for their new status upgrade.

And finally, we have two new charts that we have added to the game, both moderately difficult 6-key charts.

L'erisia (Primary Logic) - Malice - very fun chart full of fast streaming and bouncy chords
State of the Art - Fysx - very well-developed chordstream

Also, two of the really hard 6-key charts have been brought back from the dead:

Cookie Bouquets
Schrodinger's Cat

Thanks lurker!

Enjoy this late Easter update!

Heart my Silky Pajama Parties     8 Comments

Two new charts today!

Silky Heart - Sargon

This one is the opening theme of the Toradora anime. Fairly easy and decently fun. Smooth patterns, though a bit darker and heavier than you might expect.

Pajama Party - Kinx

Chart is great. Lots of fresh innovative patterns, as well as an interesting choice of instruments to follow. Song is pretty chill too. Again, somewhat easy, but harder than Silky Heart.

Enjoy!

EDIT: Sorry, I make mistakes too you know.

Just released yet another easy chart today, although this one does get fairly intense near the end. It's quite an enjoyable file, with lots of various techniques, rhythms, and patterns throughout.

Enjoy my most recent release, both chart and song: By My Shadow. <3

Multiplayer????     33 Comments

Yeah that's right. Multiplayer is almost here. We are looking for 8 DEDICATED alpha testers to help us get out the kinks in Phase 1. I have set up an extra option in the Contact Us form. Use it if you'd like to be one of these alpha testers. Tell us why you'd make a good tester and how you could help us get the bugs out. It doesn't have to be long, just short and to the point. Keep in mind testing might take a bit of time so if you don't have much free time please leave the position for someone else who does.

We will be having additional phases with more people being added to test. It is first come first serve. The first people with valid reasons will be chosen. We promise you will love this new feature to Keybeat and the testing will be well worth-it.

Edit: Keep in mind in the first few phases that the reported errors should be solely performance-based. Don't suggest or report anything pertaining to interface.
Edit 2: Phase 1 has now begun. You may continue to apply for later phases if you wish :]

New feature: custom song preview     136 Comments
Posted By bLasT on Feb 22, 2010 at 01:16 PM CST
This update deserved it's own thread as it's a major step towards ease of level preview, sharing and for feedback from people.

If you have made a stepfile that you wish to share and ask for opinions, you can do so using our autoplay embed feature on the forums like so:

[autoplay]http://www.keybeatonline.com/example/autoplay_example/info.xml[/autoplay]

If you want to share a preview of your stepfile, you need to download the .sm to keybeat .xml converter here.
Extract the .jar to a folder, put as many .sm files as you want on that folder for conversion and double click the jar. Make sure you have the latest Java 6 JRE

Now you just have to upload the xml file converted from the .sm, the mp3 (the mp3 file you provide must not be over 160kbits/sec (constant bitrate, CBR)), make an info.xml like the one above, set up your crossdomain.xml file (check this) and you are ready to post your stepfile on the forums!

Have fun!

Temporary Site Shutdown?     13 Comments
Posted By Phynx on Feb 19, 2010 at 08:29 AM CST
Just beware we may have a temporary site shutdown. My paypal, which is what I use to pay for this sites hosting, was hacked as some of you know and thus PayPal discontinued allowing transactions to go through until I finish getting this cleared up and have it open again. I got notice that my payment to our host didn't go through cause of this so if the site shuts down due to my missed payment, please just stand by, we'll have it up and running again in no time.

Thanks for your patience,

Phynx

Future updates     23 Comments
Posted By bLasT on Feb 17, 2010 at 09:07 AM CST
During the rest of this week and the begining of the next week we will be releasing new features for KBO.

These include a better settings menu, resizeable noteskins, lane markers, fixing some menus, enhanced replay info menu, autoplay for previewing songs that are NOT on the game, more stats on the post game menu, and more!

These are a lot of features and you can make them better by suggesting more features on the appropriate forum. We will read them and make them happen as long as they are doable and good for everyone.

Have fun!

I just wrote this script from scratch yesterday. The time zones should change based on the user's timezone. Can a few people let me know if the timezone is correct for you if you are not EST(EDT)?

Also, any suggestions for the feature are welcome. I'm going to add this to the new homepage that will be designed soon.
